OnyxBot has no importer, so the way to switch is to run it alongside your current ticket bot for a while rather than cutting over in one go. Your old transcripts and open tickets stay in the other bot's database and cannot be moved into OnyxBot. Let the tickets you already have finish where they are, run OnyxBot as an AI-only helper first, then publish an OnyxBot panel and delete the old bot's panel message.
What does not transfer?
OnyxBot cannot read another bot's database, so nothing moves across. There is no importer and no migration tool.
- Old transcripts. The Transcripts page only shows tickets OnyxBot handled. Export or archive anything you still need before you remove your old bot.
- Open tickets. Let them close in the old system.
- Panels, categories, and intake forms. You rebuild these by hand.
How do you run OnyxBot next to your old ticket bot?
OnyxBot's AI and OnyxBot's ticket system are independent. OnyxBot never offers a member a ticket until you publish a panel, so before that it is only an AI that answers questions.
- Invite OnyxBot to your server.
- Go to AI, then Knowledge and press Add Website or Upload File to connect your docs. Free includes 100 knowledge sources.
- Go to AI, then Configuration, find Support Channels, and press Add Channel for each channel OnyxBot should watch. It stays silent in every other channel. Free includes 1 channel.
- Do not publish a panel yet.
Want it quieter still? Turn on Mentions for that channel and OnyxBot waits for an @mention before it replies.
Rebuilding your panel and staff roles
- Open Tickets, then Panels and press New panel. The builder opens with a starting layout.
- Add your categories. Each one has its own Staff roles field, which is where you map the roles your old bot used per category.
- On Tickets, then Settings, set the Staff roles who count as staff in every category, and Open tickets per member (1 to 5, or 10).
- Pick the channel and press Publish.
Free includes 1 panel and 5 categories. Pro removes both limits.
Switching over
- Delete the old bot's panel message in Discord. Do this first, or members keep opening tickets in two systems at once.
- Wait for the last tickets in the old system to close.
- Remove the old bot from your server.
First week checklist
- Check Tickets, then Inbox daily for the first few days.
- Approve or reject the staff answers waiting on AI, then Approval Queue.
- Watch AI spend on Billing, in your account menu. Free includes $1 of AI usage a month; Pro is $10/mo with $5 included.
- On Pro, read member ratings on Tickets, then Reviews. Free servers see an upgrade prompt there instead.
